A Cheyenne teacher at Goins Elementary School has been recognized as the Wyoming Elementary P.E. Teacher of the Year.

LeAnn Francis has taught at the school for the last five years and was anonymously nominated for the award. This is the first time she has won the award and she says it's nice to be validated for all of the hard work she has put into the program.

Within the program, students learn everything from proper exercises to basketball to even archery. And while the hardest part of the job is not seeing the students enough, she says seeing them succeed is what makes it all worthwhile.

"I like seeing children get it. Like when they're struggling and struggling and then they have that moment that it just, 'oh my gosh, I got this' or 'I'm good at this' or 'I can do this.' And that's just so rewarding," Francis said.
