Update: Assault After Cavs GameBy: Megan Contreras/ firstname.lastname@example.org
We first told you about the incident over the weekend.
K2's Megan Contreras talked with the IFL Interim Commissioner, he said no action has been taken against the players just yet.
The IFL Compliance Committee is meeting on Wednesday to decide what the penalties will be if the players involved are convicted of criminal charges.
The players arrested for allegedly assaulting a Wyoming Cavalry Player are Stars Running Back, Darius Marshall, and Stars Linebacker, Devin Wilson, also known on the roster as Tray Hardaway.
On Friday the Cavs won a hard fought game in the final minute last night.
In the first quarter a player from the Stars was ejected for a personal foul.
Members of the Stars team allegedly attacked Cavs Middle Linebacker, Ross Cochran, as he was leaving the Events Center after the game.
A window is broken at the Events Center and officials believe a Stars player is to blame.
Both Stars players were bonded out Friday night.
We can tell you Cochran sustained minor bumps and bruises.
Police confirm no Cavs players were arrested.
The Cavs are scheduled to travel to New Mexico to play the stars again on May 26th.
No decision has been made if that game will go on as planned.
Megan Contreras will have an update on the Compliance Committee decision Thursday on the K2 news at 5.
Official statement from the Wyoming Cavalry:
“Last evening’s incident is unfortunate and disappointing; our organization is VERY PROUD of the behavior and discipline shown by the Wyoming Cavalry coach and players in the wake of the behavior exhibited and thrust upon them by others. Law enforcement took care of out-of-state individuals responsible; the judicial system will take care of the rest. In addition, the Indoor Football League (IFL) is conducting their due diligence to determine what, if any, additional actions should be taken against those individuals and/or team. Any further information can be obtained through normal means and reports.”
