High Winds Cause Trailer Blow-Over on I-80

High winds blew across the state on Friday with at least one serious trailer blow over reported on Interstate 80.
The Wyoming Highway Patrol reported a tractor trailer combination blew over in the Elk Mountain area. An ambulance did respond, but no injury reports have been released.
High wind warnings were posted up and down the state with gusts over 50 miles-per-hour just outside of Cheyenne. Once winds are at or above the 40 mile-per-hour mark, warnings for light trailers are posted.
However, highway patrol says small vehicles need to be just as mindful as high profile vehicles on windy days. Sargent John Townsend says cars should take extra caution when passing by tractor-trailers. "It is better to wait, be patient, and find a spot when you can pass safely."
