Health Dept Encourages Whooping Cough Vaccinations

An outbreak of whooping cough in two nearby states has the Department of Health encouraging Wyoming residents to get vaccinated.

Washington state has declared an epidemic with more than 1,100 cases of whooping cough reported this year. Meanwhile, Montana has already seen more than 90 cases of the disease. Only 10 cases have been reported in Wyoming, but state health officials say keeping up with vaccination is crucial.

While adults are susceptible to whooping cough, it is babies who are at highest risk. All pregnant women and those around babies are highly encouraged to consider getting a booster vaccine.
