UW Basketball Player Sentenced

The leading scorer on the University of Wyoming basketball team was sentenced yesterday on criminal charges. Leonard Washington pleaded guilty to two counts stemming from a fight inside a Laramie home on April 15th.
Court documents say Washington pleaded guilty to illegal entry and battery charges. He was accused of entering a house in Laramie and striking an individual.
Washington was fined a total of $530 and received a suspended jail sentence. He was also placed on unsupervised probation for a year.
UW Basketball coach Larry Shyatt issued a statement saying he is aware of the situation and is monitoring it closely. Shyatt already had suspended Washington from the team on April 4th for unspecified violations.
