Wyoming Economy Running on Energy

Wyoming economic analysts confirm the state's economy is strong thanks to the energy industry.

In an economic summary issued last week, that increased demand from emerging markets around the globe such as Asia has boosted demand for coal and oil exports.

Analysts say employment in Wyoming's mining industry expanded 8.8 percent in the fourth quarter last year as companies added 2,130 more jobs compared to 2009.

Analysts say taxable sales in Wyoming rebounded in the last quarter of 2010 to $4 billion, driven primarily by spending by the mining, oil and gas industries.
