Crews Make Progress on Russells Camp Fire

Firefighters are making progress against the Russells Camp fire burning in Converse County. However, the blaze is still only 5% contained.
The cooler temperatures and light winds have also slowed fire activity considerably. There has been very little new growth on the blaze in the last two days.
Authorities say about 2,800 acres have been burned and 385 firefighters are on the scene. Hand crews on the ground are being helped by four air tankers and six helicopters. They also have two bulldozers and a road grader cutting fire lines.
However, unseasonably hot temperatures are on the way beginning Friday.
