No Public Vote on Smoking Ban

Efforts to force a public vote on the recently passed public smoking ban in Casper have failed.  Below is the press release from the City of Casper.  Stay turned to the K2 News for much more.


Review of the signatures received for the referendum effort for Ordinance 17-12 has been completed.  129 petition forms were received with 3,636 signatures.  Of those signatures, 1,587 were confirmed against the registered voter rolls received from the Natrona County Clerk, representing a 43.6% signature confirmation rate.

 

1,999, representing 10% of the voters registered in the City of Casper, signatures were needed to place the issue on the 2012 General Election Ballot.  The referendum petition effort failed by 412 signatures and will not be on the proposed ballot.
