Suicide Attack kills Riverton Soldier

A soldier from Riverton has died in a suicide attack in Afghanistan.

Army Command Sargent Major Kevin Griffin was 45 years old and was a 1985 graduate of Riverton High School.

Military officials say CSM Griffin was killed yesterday by insurgents who detonated suicide vests in Kunar province. The blast also killed an Air Force Major from Georgia and an Army Major from New York, as well as an Afghan civilian.

Command Sargent Major Griffin and the two other soldiers were based at Fort Carson near Colorado springs. He had also served in Iraq, Kuwait, and South Korea.
