A 12-year-old Cheyenne girl has been hospitalized after being struck by a car early this morning.
Police responded to a call of a hit and run just before 8am on East Pershing Boulevard across from Baggs Elementary School.
Investigators say the girl was hit while crossing the street. The driver then reportedly fled the scene.
The girl was immediately transported to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center following the incident. The girl's family says she is OK and received just cuts and bruises. She will be held overnight at the hospital, but is expected to be home tomorrow.
Witnesses say the driver was seen leaving the area in a black dodge truck with possible front end damage on the passenger side. Police say the driver is believed to be in his 40s, around 5'8" with a slim build. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and a blue hooded sweatshirt.
