Broyles Backs Out of Plea Deal

by Liz Cooper,
A man who allegedly attacked another man with a knife and a hatchet backed out of a plea agreement and reiterated a "not guilty" plea Thursday morning. Robert Broyles is charged with attempted second degree murder.
Broyles insisted on making a not guilty plea, and asked for a new public defender. Broyles claimed his lawyer said biased comments and had demanded Broyles to take a plea deal offered by prosecutors.
Police say Broyles stabbed a man in the head during the early morning hours on the fourth of July in Casper's Morad Park. Investigators say the knife blade penetrated the man's skull, just missing his brain.
A separate hearing for Broyles will be held to seek a possible new public defender.
