Casper Police say a 28 year old janitor at Highland Park Church in Casper, led multiple young girls to believe he was youth group leader, and took advantage of that trust.

James Jaure is charged with five counts of sexual abuse of a minor.

Court documents say 28 year old James Jaure did pose as a youth group leader to gain trust and get close with young girls at the Highland Park Church.

And according to Casper Police, Jaure is a registered sex offender and was convicted of sexual assault of a minor in 2004 in Cheyenne.

Jaure made his initial appearance in Natrona County Circuit Court Thursday and asked the judge to not read his five felony charges, which included sexually abusing three young girls from a Highland Park Church Youth Group.

According to police documents, the incidents occurred over several months in 2012.

While Jaure was working at the church, witnesses say they knew he was a registered sex offender, and were concerned Jaure would hang around the lounge area with the multiple young girls before their youth group on Wednesday evenings.

The victims say Jaure asked them to text sexual  photos to him and he would text some in return.

One of the victims, according to police documents, slept over at Jaure's house in Evansville on several occasions.

Jaure was asked at one point to stop joining in on the Wednesday night youth group meetings by a pastor.

Jaure's bond was set at $100,000 and is not to have any contact with minors.

He is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing within the next 10 days.

If convicted of the most serious charge Jaure could be sentenced to 50 years in prison.
