North Casper Fire Continues to Burn

Megan Contreras reports, mcontreras@k2tv.com

What's left of two houses continues to burn in North Casper after it started around noon on Thursday.

Firefighters say they've contained the blaze from spreading, but still can't get inside.

When firefighters arrived on scene, one house was already completely engulfed in flames.

Shortly thereafter, an adjacent house began to ignite.

Fire crews attempted to fight the fire from inside the burning home, but because of the heat they were forced to pull out.

Residents of surrounding homes say the houses were vacant, but fire crews were unable to perform a search due to the conditions.

They believe the house was full of newspaper and other flammable materials.

Fire crews said their two goals are to keep the fire from spreading and continue to extinguish the fire.
