A former Centennial Junior High School teacher charged of sexually assaulting a minor will have his case moved forward to district court. The former teacher was officially charged with the two felonies about a month ago. 24 year old Tyler Russell waived his right to a preliminary hearing on January 6th. That hearing would have determined if there was enough evidence in the case to bind the charges over to district court. According to court documents, Russell has not been employed with the Natrona County School District since December 26th. Last month, police received information from the victim's mother that her daughter may possibly be having sexual relations with Russell. During the investigation, Russell reportedly told police he did have sexual relations on two occasions with the alleged victim. Police say Russell wrote a letter of apology and remorse to the young girl. It is unconfirmed if the victim is a student at Centennial Junior High School. According to the police report the victim was born in 1999. Russell faces up to 20 years in prison for each charge. He will formally plead to the charges in the coming weeks. Russell is currently free on a $10,000 dollar bond.
