Bicyclist's Widow Speaks OutSubmitted By: Xavier Walton, Xwalton@k2tv.com
Nearly a month ago this intersection was the scene of a horrific crash involving a man on a biker, Matthew Harker and an SUV.
With no one being held responsible, family and friends not only want answers, but they want justice.
The driver of the SUV that hit and killed Matthew Harker, the man you're seeing right here has not been arrested. In fact his identity still hasn't been released.
"It's hard to know that person is walking around and it's hard to know if that person has remorse not knowing if they understand the gravity of who are family has lost. It's appalling that he's still out there. Do you want justice? Yes I do. I don't want revenge. Matt would be the first person to forgive someone even after this. I don't want revenge. I don't want to hurt this person. I don't know this person, but I do want them to be held responsible for what they've taken from us. And that's all your asking for? That's all I'm asking for."
My own family, Matt's family, he has eight brothers and eight sister-in-laws and parents and everybody's just asking whats going on and I can't get any answers either.
The one answer many have gotten is that it's an on-going investigation. The District Attorney's has said it's a complex case and understands why the widow might be feeling frustration.
Almost a month out knowing what i know there is no reason why this person shouldn't be arrested. And again this isn't about revenge? No...no..this is about protecting the public. My husband was writing his bike to work at 7:30 in the morning there is no reason he should not have come home that day.
My boys have eight uncles that are dying to teach them about their dad. Show them what boy scouts do. I think that's a blessing in my life. I'd be remiss not to take advantage of that at this point in raising three boys.
In Casper waiting for answers I'm Xavier Walton.
