Early Sunday participants from all across the country took part in the Casper full, half, or relay marathon race. The race began at 6:30 in the morning at the Casper events center, and culminated at the Ramada Plaza Riverside hotel.

Craig Howie of Longmont, Colorado took first place for the men with a total time of 2 hours and 52 minutes. Howie was born in Casper, and his parents are retired teachers at Kelly Walsh. First for the women was Deb Thomford of Ranchester, Minnesota at 3 hours at 26 minutes.

Other notable finishers included Suzy Seeley who, upon finishing the race, had completed a marathon in every state. Before Sunday, Wyoming was the last state on her list. The men's half marathon was won by recent Natrona County graduate Luke Gilbert, who will be running at Maryville University in St. Louis this fall.

Overall, about 470 runners participated in the marathon.
