Fatal Bear Attack in Yellowstone

A grizzly bear killed a hiker in Yellowstone National Park Wednesday morning, in what park officials say is the first fatal bear mauling in the park in 25 years.

Park spokesman Al Nash says it appears the man and his wife surprised a female grizzly and her cubs near Canyon Village.

No information about the victim has been released and Nash says no action has been taken against the bear.

Park officials have cleared the area of other hikers.  All trails and campsites in the area have been closed and a warning sign has been posted on the trailhead.
