Plane Crash Kills One

A pilot is dead in a plane crash Friday afternoon.

Officials say the Cessna 337 took off from Rawlins and crashed eight miles north of Casper just before 2pm.

FAA spokesman Ian Gregor believes the pilot headed in for a landing at Natrona County International Airport but somehow missed his approach.  The plane was then lost from radar and radio contact.

The Cessna 337 was reportedly registered to a Lander company.  It holds up to six people; fortunately there were no other passengers.

Authorities have not released the identity of the pilot, and have not yet confirmed whether the crash was weather-related.
