Fremont Co. Woman Charged in Infant's Death

A Pavillion woman is facing charges of manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide and child abuse.
Through an investigation, the Fremont County Sheriff's Office believes 34-year-old Candace Wagner is responsible for the November death of her infant son. An autopsy reveals that the baby died of asphyxia.
According to reports, Wagner fell asleep on the same bed as the baby and woke up the next morning to find that the 2-month-old was not breathing. Wagner then called 9-1-1 and the baby was taken to Riverton Memorial Hospital where it was pronounced dead.
"Our initial contact with Ms. Wagner on the morning of the incident indicated that she was under the influence of alcohol," said Cpt. Ryan Lee of the Fremont County Sheriff's Office.
Wagner is out on bond and her preliminary hearing is set for January 18th.
