Lander Man Charged in Fatal Bus Stop Accident

Aggravated vehicular homicide charges have been filed against a Lander man that allegedly hit and killed an 11 year-old girl getting off of a school bus in Crowheart.
52 year-old Dean Barnes also faces four other misdemeanor charges including passing a stopped school bus with flashing lights and maximum speed too fast for conditions.
The accident happened in December about five miles east of Crowheart on US highway 26.
Highway Patrol says Barnes was traveling at 57 miles-per-hour in his pick-up, when he failed to stop for the school bus and struck Makayla Strahle as she crossed the highway towards her home.
If convicted of all charges, Barnes could face up to 21 years in prison.
