Review Begins for One Cent Applications

K2's Ophelia Young reports, oyoung@k2tv.com:

Review of One Cent Sales Tax fund applications began this afternoon.

A total of 37 organizations each have 10 minutes to explain why they deserve a slice of the One Cent pie.

About 6 million dollars have been set aside by the One Cent Sales Tax for community projects.

Some of the organizations brought cardboard presentations.  They described how much money they need and, if the get it, how they will use the money.

Some exited the meeting room confident tonight.  But most of them were not so sure.

The city council is expected to have watched 20 presentations by 7 tonight.  Tomorrow, the presentations resume from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.  After a review, decisions are expected to be released by late April.
