Prosecutors have charged a Mills man with aggravated assault after he allegedly shot a man Wednesday at the Highland Park Cemetery.

Authorities believe John Guy Carlton shot a man he suspected was dealing meth to his stepson.

Carlton said he was only trying to scared the alleged dealer, Jason Johnson, since he was trying to get his stepson to quit using meth.

According to court documents, Carlton pointed a gun at Johnson saying, "you think she is crazy, you haven't met me," referring to Carlton's girlfriend.

The glock 9mm then fired and hit Johnson in the face.

The alleged dealer tried to walk to the hospital, but paramedics responded after he nearly passed out.

Carlton allegedly retrieved cash from his house and thought about running from the police.

Police say Carlton did end up turning himself in.
