Prison Inmate Accidentally Released
A man who was supposed to serve another 5-7 years in prison for his part in an assault outside a Casper bar last year, has been released by mistake. Arthur Penrod was released from the state penitentiary in Rawlins on Tuesday.
Penrod was out on parole for a burglary conviction last April when he got involved in the fight outside the Sandbar Lounge. He was sent back to prison to serve out his term for that crime, and then was to immediately begin serving a term for aiding and abetting in the assault.
However, the state corrections department says the prison never received the necessary paperwork confirming Penrod's additional sentence.
Police are looking for Penrod, but he is not an escapee, since prison officials did release him.
