Former NC Student Dies in CrashBy Megan Contreras, firstname.lastname@example.org
A former Natrona County High School student died in a single car accident early Tuesday morning. The school district has identified him as 19 year old Clay Brownell.
Police have released few details of the crash, but say there are indications of drug and or alcohol use. Brownell reportedly failed to negotiate a turn when he was heading west bound on 15th street in Casper.
Authorities confirm he was with another person earlier in the evening who was also involved in a separate crash about two hours later. 19 year old Ryan Eidsness was headed north on Wyoming Boulevard when he allegedly hit a semi traveling on the opposite side of the road. The driver of the semi did tell authorities he saw the vehicle Eidsness was driving coming towards him, and he corrected his steering to avoid a head on collison.
Eidsness was treated and released from Wyoming Medical Center and was then taken into custody. Police say Eidsness told them he took 5 shots of whiskey just an hour before he got behind the wheel.
Brownell graduated from Natrona County High School last year where he played football, basketball and soccer. He was currently a student at Colorado State University.
