The first public reading for an amended smoking ban in Casper has officially been set for next month. During a work session on Tuesday night, Casper City Council cleared up all remaining issues on the amended smoking ordinance.

The most significant amendments would exempt taverns, lounges, bars, private events, and health care facilities from the smoking ban.

According to Mayor Kenyne Schlager, City Council is only looking at two concrete options. Keeping the ban as is is not one of them. Schlager feels the smoking ban will either be modified or repealed by the council if it does not pass in three public readings.

The first reading is on April 16th and will be open for anyone who wishes to comment on the modified smoking ban.
