Fire Crews Respond to Apparent River Hoax

What appeared to be a drowned person in the North Platte river turned out to be just a hoax.
Around 11 a.m. the Casper Fire Department received a report of a floating object in the river. The object appeared to be a person turned upside down in jeans with their legs duck taped together.
Once crews arrived on scene, firefighters had a hunch it was no more than a hoax based on its location and appearance.
A three man crew went into the river and pulled out the object. Officials say it was the legs of a mannequin with jeans and shoes duck taped together with a steel pipe as its platform to assure the feet would stay sticking up in the air.
