A Casper man charged with aggravated assault after stabbing a man in May of last year will spend at least two and a half years in prison. Kino Beman made an alford plea deal in February with the district attorney.

Beman was facing a maximum of ten years for the charge, but with the deal the maximum time he will spend in prison is only five years.

An alford plea carries the same consequences of a guilty plea, but allows the defendant to still maintain that he did not commit the crime.

In May of last year, Beman and another man were allegedly drinking inside a home near the Moonlight Bar in Casper. Authorities say the men then got into an altercation over a woman that was with them inside the home before Beman had stabbed the man.
