Wyoming Senators Fight Mineral Payment Cuts

Senators from Wyoming and New Mexico plan to introduce legislation that will try to restore millions of dollars in cuts to mineral royalty payments. Senator Mike Enzi says Wyoming's delegation is working on the legislation.
Due to budget cuts, the federal government says it plans to withhold more than $50 million in mineral payments from Wyoming this year. As the country's biggest coal-producer, the cuts are hitting the Cowboy State especially hard.
New Mexico also faces a steep loss of about $25 million.
The proposed legislation would look to prevent the federal government from being able to access that money.
