Casper Outage Effects Thousandsby Xavier Walton, firstname.lastname@example.org
An equipment failure at a Casper substation caused a power outage for approximately 11,600 Rocky Mountain Power customers early Sunday morning.
The outage occurred at 5:17 a.m. and power was restored at 8:37 a.m., according to Margaret Oler of Rocky Mountain Power.
The electrical ark that appears in the video did not cause any fires. In fact, despite all the bright flashes and loud noises, the safety devices in place for situations such as this one, prevented any outer damage from occurring.
Equipment failure happened at the Community Park substation near the intersection of South Bonnie Brae Street and East 27th Street.
Last month Rocky Mountain Power started work on their long-term project which began in 2007, however Oler said at this point they do not believe the malfunction current maintenance are connected.
