A man wanted out of Florida for allegedly faking his own death has been arrested in the Clark area.
50-year-old David Lashley was living under the alias Welsly Byrd after an alleged connection to the disappearance of a houseboat in an attempt to fake his own death in Florida. Lashley then allegedly fled to Northwest Wyoming.
Park County Sheriffs deputies, US Marshalls from Colorado, Montana and Wyoming and investigators from the US Coast Guard, all assisted in his arrest Monday. Lashley was taken into custody without incident near the Wyoming-Montana border.
Lashley was already wanted on felony warrants out of Florida and was charged with two counts of obscene communication and attempted sexual battery on a victim under 12 years old.
He is currently being held in the Park County Detention Center and is awaiting extradition back to Florida. He could also face charges of "unlawful flight to avoid prosecution" and illegal posession of a firearm.
