An former employee of a Casper assisted living facility who took advantage of a 101-year old resident will spend three to five years in prison.

Malgorzata Burns, who was a nursing assistant at Shepard of the Valley, spent over $13,000 of the man's money to pay her personal bills. The victim had advanced stages of dementia.

Burns' lawyer requested probation with prison time suspended. Despite the request, Judge Wilking denied probation saying that Burns wrote multiple checks over an extended period of time.
