Final Reading on Amended Smoking Ban Tonight
by K2 News Desk, firstname.lastname@example.org
Casper City Council will vote for a third and final time tonight to amend the city's controversial smoking ban. If the amended ban passes on third reading, smoking would once again be allowed in areas like bars.
Tuesday's reading comes nearly a year to the day when the ban passed, outlawing smoking in almost all public indoor areas.
Casper City Council passed amendments to the ban in its first two readings earlier this year, but on a very close vote each time. Casper Mayor Kenyne Schlager expects the amended ban to pass the third and final reading.
If the measure passes as expected, Smoke Free Natrona County plans on petitioning to force a public vote on the smoking ban. If the group collects enough signatures, a vote to repeal the amended ban would appear on the August ballot.
