New fire restrictions were put into place on Tuesday on all land within the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest. The restrictions permit fires only within metal fire pits.

Authorities say several weeks of warm and dry weather have prompted the partial ban.

The forest boundaries cover much of the Laramie range, the Pole Mountain area, and also include the Snow and Sierra Madre ranges.
