Fallen Heros Memorial Softball Tournament
This is the 4th year we've held the tournament and it's time for teams to get signed up. The registration deadline is May 18th and the tournament will be Memorial Day Weekend, Saturday and Sunday, May 28th-29th. Registration fee is $150.
There is a Men's division and a Co-Ed division. Multiple divisions in the Men's will be determined by the entries.
This year I have something very special planned for our Saturday ceremony to honor our fallen heroes in the recent conflicts. I'll be asking one team member from each team to represent one of the Wyoming Fallen Soldiers. Currently there are 23 names on our banner which is displayed during the tournament. That means we need at least 23 teams to sign-up. In the past we've had between 14 and 21 teams.
The other thing I'd really like everyone to know is that we would really, really like this to be a state tournament instead of just local teams. In the past the teams have been primarily from Casper and we really appreciate that support. But, this tournament aims to honor fallen soldiers from around the state so it would be wonderful if we had teams from around the state to represent their fallen heroes. For example, Lance Cpl Jacob Ross and Pfc. Manuel Davila were from Gillette, there are 5 soldiers to be represented from Cheyenne, Pfc Chance R Phelps was from Dubois, and Staff Sgt David Julian was from Evanston. As you can see, we have fallen heroes from all corners of the state. So we'd love to have a team from these different communities to represent their hero.
To get signed up, teams can contact me at email@example.com, or call 307-234-1752 and I can snail mail info.
I'm working on getting a website going for the tournament so everyone will be able to see pictures from the tournament for each year, they'll be able to order shirts, get the entry form, and there will also be a link for each soldier with biography, pictures, and a guestbook. The website is CplCorbettsHeroes.com and should be up within the next week.
Proceeds from this tournament and the sales of tournament shirts fund scholarships at Casper College.
