Attempted Murder Defendant's Case Moves Forward

A man charged with attempted murder and kidnapping will see his case move forward to district court.

33 year old Lashawn Sidney King is charged for allegedly beating his ex-girlfriend almost two weeks ago.

The victim watched in court as the evidence was presented before the judge.

She told police that on the night of the alleged attack she stepped out of a car in the parking lot of Studio City, and her ex-boyfriend, King, suddenly began beating her with a hammer.

King then allegedly forced her into the car, stopped at a gas station, and at one point said he was going to light the victim on fire.

King is being charged with aggravated assault, kidnapping and attempted murder.

He faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.
