Over Memorial Day weekend the fourth annual Corporal Jason Corbett Memorial Softball tournament took place. In total, 19 teams entered the tournament which pays tribute to Wyoming's veterans who have died in combat.

Around noon on Saturday, participants paused and paid tribute to the soldiers with a special ceremony featuring the Natrona County High Color Guard and 23 Wyoming State flags, each representing the state's 23 fallen heroes since Operation Desert Storm.

The tournament was started by Megan Schafer after her son, Cpl. Jason Corbett, died in the line of duty in Iraq back in 2007. "I particularily wanted to make sure people didn't forget Jason and his sacrifice," Schafer said, "But I included all of our fallen Wyoming soldiers...because I knew how important it must be to their parents, their families, and their loved ones."

The money raised from the event will go towards funding the Corporal Jason Corbett Memorial Scholarship fund at Casper College.
