Smoke was seen throughout Casper this afternoon, as more than a dozen fires broke out just southwest of the Oil City. Highway 220 was closed in both directions for more than a hour, while officials worked to save nearby homes. The fight against the fires, took to the sky, as airplanes could be seen dropping retardant on the flames. Dry weather across Wyoming the past few weeks, has led to dozens of fires across the Cowboy State, burning thousands of acres combines. The cause of Thursday's fires along Highway 220, still remains under investigation.
