With summer on its way, fire season rapidly approaches. The Wyoming Air National Guards 153rd Air Lift Wing preps their crew and aircraft, ready to take on fire fighting missions.
One of only four units in the country that partners with the U.S. Forest service, providing aerial fire fighting support when requested.
The C-130 is loaded down with the Modular Airborne Fire Fighting System, or MAFFS, which pushed out a powerful flame retardant over the fire area. The mission is one of the most challenging and dangerous missions to fly.
