Freedom Is Not Free
K2's Ophelia Young reports, firstname.lastname@example.org:
We often hear that freedom is not free. What does that mean to you?
To Leonard Robinson, a former prisoner of World War II, it means being slave for over three years. He says, you won't understand the price of freedom until you've been there.
But he doesn't want us to go there. He just wants us to understand that he sacrificed his freedom so we can enjoy ours--freedom is not free.
That was the main message in today's Veterans' Day Ceremony at the Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery. Veterans, usually tight-lipped about their traumatic war experiences, took comfort in each other.
Together, war veterans from Casper's Police Chief Chris Walsh to recently retired Federal Judge William Downes to Leonard Robinson encouraged Wyoming to understand freedom was never free. Freedom will never be free.
