K2 Gridiron Report: Riverton Wolverines

HEAD COACH PAT PATTERSON HAS HIGH HOPES FOR THE RIVERTON WOLVERINES THIS YEAR. FINISHING 3RD IN LEAGUE LAST YEAR, HOPES OF IMPROVING WILL COME FROM THE SENIOR LEADERSHIP OF THE TEAM. ENTERING HIS 4TH YEAR AS THE HEAD COACH, THIS YEAR YOU COULD SAY IS SPECIAL, AS IT'LL BE THE FIRST TIME A CLASS OF SENIORS WILL BE HIS OWN.

"When things aren't going right, they tell them how things should be and where to go, and are really coaches on the field and that really makes a big difference."

THERE WILL BE A NEW LOOK AT THE QUARTERBACK POSITION THIS YEAR, AFTER STARTER BRAYDEN DRAPER GRADUATED LAST YEAR

"We lost a really good one last year that almost through for 2,000 yards, but Brady Fullerton, whose going to be our quarterback this year, it was nip and tuck who was gonna be our starter last year. So I think we would've gotten very similar numbers out of Brady last year if he had been the quarterback"

COACH PATTERSON KNOWS THAT HE WILL HAVE AN EXPLOSIVE OFFENSE THIS YEAR, SPORTING MULTIPLE RECEIVERS, ALL ABOVE 6 FEET TALL. BUT DEFENSE IS KEY TO SEE HOW THIS TEAM WILL PERFORM.

"Were gonna have to be good on defense. I think that's really gonna be our key. We're gonna be solid offensively. But the defense has been our achilles heel last couple years. We score a lot of points but we've been giving up a lot"

THE WOLVERINES OPEN UP WITH A VERY TOUGH NON-CONFERENCE SCHEDULE, FACING THE TWO TEAMS THAT BATTLED IT OUT IN THE 3 A STATE TITLE, GREEN RIVER AND STAR VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL. PHILLIP BENOTTI K2NEWS
