Athlete of the Month: Garrett Condelario

"There's really nothing to describe it. You can't really think about it, you just have to go," he said.

There Garrett Condelario goes...The NC cross country runner finished first at the Beartrap Invitational to start his senior season.

It feels pretty amazing. It feels like all of the stuff you've done and all of the training you've done has finally paid off. You can just be in the moment."

"To our knowledge in the last 20 years, we haven't had an NC boy win the invitation out right, so that was a really nice surprise," Coach Becky Sondag said.

Last weekend in Billings Montana, Condelario took first place again.

"Actually to put another championship together, is really... It shows he's really hitting on all cylinders right now. I think he's going to continue it," Sondag said.

"In Billings, I was expected to be a couple of seniors boys that were one and two in the state. I was expected them to be ahead of me, but it didn't happen that way," Condelario said. "Getting first place consistently in the first couple races. That's pretty new as well."

"He's the same kid across the board. He gives his all for everything he does," Sondag said.

He finished 5th in the 2015 State Cross Country Meet, and two top four finishes for Track and Field this spring, but Condelario wants more.

"It's definitely a push to see if I can this year as well. I'm just trying to strive to that and see if I can get first place," Condelario said.

This mustang is off to a fast start, for our k2 athlete of the month, Megan Salle reporting in Casper for K2 Sports.
