K2 Gridiron Report: Riverton Wolverines

AT 3-6 LAST SEASON, THE WOLVERINES LOOK TO REBOUND FROM AN EARLY EXIT IN THE 3A PLAYOFFS. THEY WERE NOT SHORT ON OFFENSE, SCORING 40 PLUS POINTS 5 TIMES, AND COACH PAT PATTERSON HOPES FOR CONTINUED SUCCESS.

"I think we expect a lot of the same. Our quarterback will be a different style of quarterback. He's not the same kind of dynamic runner as Brady Fullerton but Treyton Paxton is probably a better passer, just as a true stand up pocket passer"

THE OFFENSE RETAINS AN ALL-STATE WIDE RECEIVER IN BRODY RODEN, WHOSE IN HIS SENIOR YEAR, LOOKING TO BUILD OFF OF PAST SUCCESS.

"Honestly, I expect the same but not only with the passing but the rushing as well with Nick. He's real good so we'll get a pretty good dynamic offense going"

RODEN REFERENCING HIS TEAMMATE AND SENIOR LEADER NICK FENTON. FENTON KNOWS THE OFFENSE IS THE STRENGTH OF THIS TEAM, BUT DEFENSIVELY, WORK STILL NEEDS TO BE DONE.

"As a team I want our defense to be top notch. Our offense, it's always going to be good with Pat. He's got a great system he's got in play. And our defense just needs to be A1"

"We are young. We've got a lot of numbers but not a lot of the varsity experience. Kids that got time on special teams and things like that but just not a lot of gametime quality reps. We'll have some kids really step up and play"

THE CONFIDENCE CAN BE SEEN IN THEIR PRACTICE, AND RIVERTON HAS IT'S SIGHTS SET HIGH THIS SEASON.

"I'm hoping that we make it to a state championship game. We go through the playoffs. Not get put out. I hope we have a winning record on the regular season and go all the way"

"Honestly, I just want to win state championships. That's what I want. It's what everybody wants, but I just want it more."

RIVERTON OPENS THEIR SEASON AT HOME WITH THE RED DEVILS OF EVANSTON ON AUGUST 25TH. IN FREMONT COUNTY, PHILLIP BENOTTI K2NEWS.
