Denise Pernula, the Evening Anchor for K2 News since November 2009, is a Wyoming native from Sheridan.
Prior to joining the K2 news team, Denise was living in Las Vegas freelancing as a Television Host and Entertainment Journalist for companies such as: Access Hollywood, E! Entertainment, Travel Channel, HDNET, NBC Bay Area, and NBC Burbank. As the Lead Anchor for Raw Vegas TV, Denise’s interviews kept the Vegas Valley up-to-date on some of the nation’s most recognized celebrities, athletes and musicians such as Matt Damon, Al Pacino, Paris Hilton, Larry King, Kenny Chesney, Usher and Randy Couture. After covering the World Series of Poker for three years, Denise became the go-to poker insider, often reporting the event’s most exclusive interviews and breaking stories.
But it wasn’t always red carpet events for Denise; she has also worked as a News Reporter for KVII-TV (an ABC affiliate) in Amarillo, Texas. She graduated with honors from University of Las Vegas, Nevada receiving a B.A. in Communication Studies, with an emphasis in Broadcast Journalism.
Denise embraces the opportunity to come home and keep her home state informed on the news that’s important to Wyoming. She is thrilled that her Grandparents will now be able to get their evening news from their favorite station, K2, and their favorite granddaughter (well, only granddaughter)!
In her spare time Denise enjoys running, cooking, traveling, hiking, biking, volunteering, as well as the occasional evening spent on the couch, watching Dexter, American Idol or UFC. But, watch out cowboys, now that she’s got her boots back on, don’t be surprised to find her country swinging at the Beacon.
